BRANDI POWELL
Political Reporter
I am happy to be a part of the Bismarck community!
Prior to starting my career here as a reporter, I lived in New York City. Over the course of a year, I did production and producing work with MSNBC. My experience there was a great training ground for all aspects of tv news.
Before moving to the Big Apple, I spent a couple years in Nevada working on my undergraduate degree at UNLV. I graduated with a degree in Communications and a minor in Spanish in 2004. The Honors College afforded me many interesting opportunities in and out of the classroom.
During my Vegas years, I interned with KLAS-TV. That experience made me realize on-air reporting would eventually be the career path for me. In the summer of 2004, I was an editorial intern for Dateline NBC. I finished off the summer working with Univision through The Washington Center at the Republican National Convention. During the presidential elections MTV Choose or Lose teamed up with Cox Communications, and I was chosen as their Las Vegas political correspondent.
Before that, I studied abroad in Barcelona and Salamanca Spain. This was during my first years of college at the University of Michigan. I had the chance to learn Spanish and become immersed in a culture with great food and architecture.
I am originally from Minnesota.
