I am not sure exactly when I knew I was meant to be a journalist. Maybe it was the day I witnessed the reunion of an abducted child with her terrified mother. It could have been that oddly comfortable feeling I had the first time I sat behind the anchor desk. Or, possibly it was listening to Walter Cronkite tell my intro to journalism class about the significance of having a career that changes people’s lives. But while observing hundreds of future journalists at one of the nation’s largest universities become turned off to this high stress, cutthroat profession, I have discovered that there is nothing I would rather do with my life.

In January 2007, I took another step toward my goal by joining the KUMV News Team anchoring the Evening and the Night reports weekdays at 6 and 10 p.m.  Before moving to North Dakota, I spent four years at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.  While going to school, I interned at three different television stations in the Phoenix market where I gained professional newsroom practice.

I also worked as an anchor/reporter for ASU’s student-staffed, faculty-supervised production, which was awarded the top collegiate television newscast in the nation by the Society of Professional Journalists.  I have gone undercover to expose child sex offenders, investigated fraternity scandals, and helped a mother make care packages for her soldier son in Iraq.   But what I love most about my job is the people I meet.  I have interviewed a breast cancer survivor, public officials, and a convent of protestant nuns, all of which have had an important story to tell, and who have made an impact in my own life.

When not reporting, I enjoy working out, shopping, reading and traveling.
