A big thank you goes out to everyone who donated coats and other winter gear to this year’s Coats for Kids project. This event wouldn’t be possible without your support. KUMV-TV Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lawrence is proud to announce 509 coats were collected throughout the month of August. This number reflects an increase of 145 coats from last year’s total.

We would like to thank our long-time partners, City Laundry and Dry Cleaning and Model Drive-In Cleaners, for their hard work and diligence in cleaning and restoring the coats into tip-top condition. Donations poured into both dry cleaners, leaving mounds of coats, evidence of the great community support behind this project.

The final phase of the project will begin the last week of September. The Salvation Army will distribute the coats to kids who need them September 24th-28th from 10 am to 2 pm at their office at 15 Main Street in Williston (located by the Amtrak Depot). Special arrangements for additional times can be made by calling 572-2921.

RUNNING COAT COUNT = 509

Please help a child stay warm this winter.
