Coates RV Accident | Video

Accidents involving semis or multiple vehicles are becoming a common sight across western North Dakota. One accident over the weekend demolished three RVs.

Two RVs and a fish house were damaged after two vehicles lost control.

"It was a little bit of a shock. Initially looking at the amount of damage, I was very curious as to whether there was some serious injuries involved," said Dutch Deick, Coates RV.

The crash happened late Thursday evening, and was reported by an eye witness. But when officers arrived, the drivers were gone.

"My first initial reaction was wondering where the drivers of the vehicles were even at, how many people were on scene, was there anyone hurt," said Jacob Gregory, Williston Police Officer.

What Coates believes happened was the vehicles came down the street, couldn`t make the turn, and slammed right into the fish house.

"It`s about a 25mph speed limit down this frontage road and there are stop signs along the way. And I couldn`t imagine somebody coming down at a rate of speed to do something like this," said Deick.

The crash caused more than $100,000 in damage. But Officer Gregory says nothing in Williston surprises him anymore.

"It was somewhat surprising but I`ve been working here now for seven months and I`ve seen a lot similar instances just like this."

The eye witness was able to lead officers to the suspected drivers who had slammed into the RVs. Police also arrested them in connection with another incident. Officer Gregory says alcohol may have been involved, however neither suspect has been charged with a DUI.
