The Green Zone training is a seminar developed to help faculty and staff assist student veterans during their time in college. The discussion includes the topics of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury, as well as other situations that may come up in the classroom or office. Faculty who attend the seminar will leave with Green Zone cards that let veteran students know that they have a basic understanding of their position.
"They`re coming from a different background than the traditional student so faculty and staff don`t necessarily understand that and this is what part of the Green Zone training does is make the faculty and staff more aware of some of the unique situations," says David Klassy, MSU Veterans Center Director.
There are over 240 veterans attending Minot State University. The Veteran Center at MSU is eight months old and provides veteran students with assistance in completing their academic goals.
