Rich Wisniewski | 4/27/2012

It`s a special event meant to bring people together to dance, sing and celebrate. What better event to celebrate than a college graduation?

Friday, Minot State held its annual powwow celebration where they honored the class of 2012.

The 23rd annual powwow is one of the largest student activities on campus. Friday’s events will kick off a whole weekend of activities sponsored by the Native American Cultural Awareness Club. They hope it will bring together students to experience the Native American culture.

"I hope people can come together as families because that’s what powwows are about, a gathering. I also hope people get a rich understanding of the culture thats so rich in this state," said Annette Mennem, the director for the Native American Center at MSU.

Saturday there will be an honor parade, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. All the 2012 MSU graduates are invited to attend. MSU’s graduation is set for May 11.
