Young Entrepreneurs Set Up Shop | Video

Kirkwood Mall is hosting "Merchants of the Future." Kids, Inc is a program where young entrepreneurs set up shop at the mall. Kids ages six to fifteen who are interested need to submit a business plan via Kirkwood Malls Facebook page by June 20.

Participants may create something from scratch, offer a service or re-sell something from a wholesaler. Businesses are expected to have minimal parental involvement.

"There was one gal who had beaded bracelets so her business idea was to make some beaded bracelets and sell them. One entry was cupcakes frosted cupcakes, so that was the plan to come in and do that one was pretty creative with duct tape wallets and purses and things with that colorful duct tape," said Kirkwood Mall Marketing Manager Lisa Engelstad.

Facebook fans can vote for their favorite business ideas between June 21 and 28. The top 10 winners will hold one-day "Business Showcase" at the mall and get to keep all their earnings.
