Fireworks Not Allowed On Dakota Prairie Grasslands

| 6/29/2012

With Independence Day approaching, the U.S. Forest Service reminds visitors and campers that the use of all fireworks is prohibited on national grasslands. Fireworks are prohibited on national grassland and forest lands all year, regardless of the weather or if there is a holiday.

Violations can carry a fine up to $5,000 and/or six months imprisonment.

The service also reminds visitors to make sure all fires are extinguished and cold to the touch before leaving them.
