Our first stop of the day was the wives kitchen where, I was going to be trying some fried brownies.
I`m not the biggest fan of chocolate but it was pretty good. I gave it 25 out of 30 points. After the brownie we continued our tour and tried some sweet potato puffs and pork sausage.
We totaled our scores and continued on. The next stop? M and S Concessions to try the Italian Stallion.
This was by far my favorite food of the day. It was a meatball rolled in ranch, then fried and covered with marinara and cheese. Unfortunately I couldn`t eat the whole thing, I had to save room for the rest on the list!
After the funnel cake we walked over to another booth, this one had me curious.
Some people are probably wondering, "What is fried Kool Aid?"
"Well fried Kool Aid is a Kool Aid mix that we add to a sweet batter and then we deep fry it and coat it with powered sugar," said vendor Guy Johnson.
No fair is complete without a corn dog, this one was a little different but no less tasty! I gave it 21 points.
The last stop on our food frenzy tour was to try some poutine.
"It`s a Canadian food tradition. It`s raw cheese curds that are kind of melted french fries and a really good gravy," said vendor Bill Davis. "It`s kind of a meat and potatoes sort of a meal."
After trying all that food I sure was full, time to add up the points and see who won!
The Walleye on a Stick booth took home top honors with their poutine. These were just a sample of some of the great foods at the North Dakota State Fair.
