Local company, MBI Energy, contributed two million dollars to the housing incentive fund, targeting the funds directly for the Prairie Heights project. They also donated the land where the development will be located.
The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency says projects like this one involving the state`s Housing Incentive Fund are critical to the growth of communities across the state
"It`s incredible exciting, it`s providing housing for people in these communities that are so desperately in need of affordable housing. The $15 million fund is completely spoken for and we`re starting to see projects completed and under construction. So this is exciting for the community of Watford City, where they`re going to be gaining 124 additional units of housing, a number of those being targeted for people on fix incomes and people with lower modest means,” said NDHFA Director of Planning and Housing Development Jolene Kline.
Governor Dalrymple is in the process of doubling the state`s housing incentive fund from $15 to $30 million.
