Synthetic Drug Law | Video

Retha Colclasure | 11/15/2012

Synthetic drugs are about to become illegal in North Dakota. The North Dakota Board of Pharmacy met this afternoon to discuss enacting an emergency rule that would ban the sale, use, or possession of synthetic drugs, by classifying them as a schedule one narcotic.

The board agreed that this issue was important enough to require immediate action and will hold a public hearing on the issue November 30. If the rule is passed, it could go into effect by that afternoon.

In the meantime, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is issuing cease and desist letters to any store found selling synthetic drugs. This afternoon, he issued a letter to both locations of Hemp Horizonz in Minot. That follows one letter given yesterday to Big Willies in Mandan.
