Holiday Travel on the Rise in Minot | Video

Rene Thibault | 11/15/2012

Thanksgiving is almost here, and that means a lot of people are making plans to get out of town for the holiday. National flight numbers are up for 2012, but how does Minot International airport compare?

Minot International Airport was full of passengers today, and for the next few days, its expected to stay that way, with their holiday flights over 94 percent full.

"The economic environment we`re in with the additional flights that we have compared to last year, we`re averaging around a 40 to 50 percent increase over last year in monthly numbers, so that just shows you how many more people that we`re expecting over last year,” said airport director Andy Solsvig.

And there are things passengers need to remember, like watching weather reports for their departure and arrival destinations. Also, mark all luggage and carry-ons with a name and phone number. But that`s not all.

“A word of advice to people that are traveling, get here nice and early, make your travel plans with plenty of time. So you don`t run into any unfortunate situations,” said traveler Jackie Thomas.
