Cops and Kids Holiday Shopping | Video

Joel Porter | 12/8/2012

Bismarck police officers and sheriff`s deputies were taking a few kids on an early Christmas shopping spree on Saturday. Today, the Missouri Valley Fraternal Order of Police took around 50 kids to Walmart. Each child was given $50 to buy gifts for themselves and members of their family. The children are from low-income or families that have experienced recent tragedy.

"It`s awesome. I love spending time with these kids. You get to know them so well and their personalities and they pick out some thing you wouldn`t even realize they`d love," volunteer Jordan Dollinger said.

"I found a few stuff. Found some hair-changing stuff," third grader Tera Bontje said.

The fraternal order of police will be taking 50 more children shopping next weekend. The money is raised thanks to fundraisers throughout the year.
