ND Hog and Pig Numbers Down

| 12/31/2012

According to a recent inventory from the USDA, there are fewer pigs and hogs in North Dakota. As of December 1, there were 135,000 head in the state, 16,000 less than last year. The USDA says the lower numbers are the result of a decrease in both breeding and market hog inventory.

The largest December inventory was 182,000 head in 2007 and the previous low was in 2010 with 143,000 head.
