Department of Health Assesses Penalties on Septic Tank Companies

Two septic tank companies will have to pay $700,000 in penalties for improper disposal of wastewater. The North Dakota Department of Health penalized Hurley Enterprises and MonDak Septic Service for violations in western North Dakota in 2011 and 2012. Drivers responsible will also have to pay $1,500.

In addition, both companies will have to maintain detailed records of all domestic waste treatment.

As part of the fine provided by Hurley Enterprise, a training program will be developed. MonDak Septic Service has also constructed lagoons for wastewater treatment.
