Morton County Jail Needs

Morton County is quickly running out of jail space and commissioners are meeting tonight to discuss the best way to find more. The county has been considering building a combined jail with Burleigh County and is also looking at expanding the space in the current jail.

Commissioners know whatever decision they make will have a big impact.

"The decisions we`re going to be making regarding detention we`re not taking lightly. We do have to look out for the long term costs and efficiencies regarding our different options," said Commissioner Bruce Strinden.

Commissioners say they don`t expect to come to any final decisions at tonight`s meeting, but hope to have a decision made by the end of February.
