It`s one thing to learn about business in the classroom and it`s something entirely different to get some real-life experience. That`s what students at Minot State University have been able to do. And when you`re brewing up a business, you need to start with the basics.

"This whole project was really created to be a learning lab for students," said Jordan Lakodukm, Assistant Manager of Beaver Brew Café.

The students involved in the Entrepreneurship Club created the Beaver Brew Café. They did everything from the initial designs to creating the full business plan. The students at Minot State University are not only learning how to make a great cup of coffee, but they`re also learning how to run a business.

"It`s a completely unique idea. We gain experience of starting a business without any risk as students," said Lakoduk.

They don`t have any risks because the shop is owned through the university`s foundation. The money they make goes right back into Entrepreneurship Academy.

"Once we got to our certain goal of what we considered to be a successful business, we will probably be looking to sell off the business. And, we will be looking at a different business venture to start," said Lakoduk.

So a new group of students can experience what it feels like to start a business from the ground up.

The Beaver Brew Café is located just across the street from Minot State University where they roast their coffee locally and serve a wide range of specialty coffees.
