Electric Funds | Video

The Federal Government announced yesterday that Central Power Co-op in Minot will be eligible for more than $33 million in loans through the United States Department of Agriculture. The funds are coming from the department`s Rural Utilities Service, which helps electric utilities upgrade, expand and maintain Rural America`s electric infrastructure.

In Minot, the money will be used to build 141 miles of new transmission lines which will back up current electric lines and provide reliable energy for a growing community.

“The community is expanding. Just take a look out at Minot and see all the new houses coming up, well they all need that electricity to them, so Central Power puts in the transmission line to get that electricity to your local co-op, and ultimately the consumer,” said USDA Rural Development Area Director, Lisa Dahl

Central Power says it will begin construction of the new transmission lines this spring.
