Most of us put our phones in our drink holder or console when we`re driving. And, when your phone rings, you have to take your eyes off the road and look down to grab your phone. Well, this may help you stay a little safer. It`s called the GripGo, a car phone mount that attaches to your windshield. It seems pretty easy.
But, does it actually work? Well, "Don’t Buy It, Until We Try It."
"It`s always good to have two hands on the wheel when you’re on the road," said Cell Solutions salesman Ronald Parizek.
If you’re not one of the lucky drivers who have a Bluetooth enhanced car, you may have to take your eyes off the road to look down.
Parizek said, "With all of the traffic, you know, in that area, it`s always probably best to have something in front of you to keep your hands free for driving."
Instead of fumbling and looking down for your phone, we decided to put the GripGo car phone mount to the test.
"You can never put a price on being safe,” said Parizek. “So, I mean, it may get you out of looking down to avoid an accident."
Before the GripGo could go up, we cleaned the windshield with a warm washcloth.
As Parizek explains, "You got to get it warm in North Dakota before it will work."
You can attach the GripGo either using the 3M strip or the suction cup. Just place, stick, and secure. "It seems to be real sturdy. And, the nice thing is you can adjust it to the angle you want," said Parizek.
Once GripGo was secure in place, we stuck it to the phone. While we were driving around, GripGo stayed secure in place and didn’t move around.
“You get it in front of you looking straight versus fighting and fumbling looking down at it,” said Parizek. “It`s got to be a benefit for everybody on the road."
The green piece is very sticky, so you need to use caution when taking your cell phone off. To clean GripGo, just take warm water and mild soap to remove dirt and dust. To avoid heavy wear and tear, Parizek recommends keeping the GripGo mounted in your car instead of taking it down each time.
So, this week`s "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It," earns a thumbs up.
