Officials at Minot Air Force base are investigating a helicopter incident that happened this morning in McLean County. Five people were on board the UH-1H Huey helicopter when the pilot initiated emergency landing procedures at 10:45.

The aircraft went down just south of Parshall. Only two minor injuries were sustained during the landing. The aircraft was one of eight helicopters assigned to the 91st Missile Wing.

An investigation is now underway. “The mechanical status of the aircraft itself, the training that`s involved, the health and well being of the crew, all of these factors are looked at very carefully to paint a picture of what lead to the mishap, and how we can learn from it and avoid future mishaps,” said Colonel Bryan Haderlie.

There is still no word on the amount of damage the aircraft sustained during the landing procedure. The Air Force will be releasing more information as it becomes available.
